Educator – Writer – Speaker -Consultant
Dr Hannah Robbins is a writer, lecturer, creative practitioner, and consultant. They are a renowned expert on musical theatre and race in popular culture as well as an advocate for equity in the performing arts and higher education.
Hannah is currently Head of Music at the University of Nottingham and leader of Europe’s only PhD programme in Black Studies. They have written the first academic book on hit musical Kiss Me, Kate and will soon release a short volume titled Intersectionality and the American Musical.
A popular public speaker and visiting expert, Hannah’s broadcasting credits include two appearances on the beloved BBC comedy history podcast You’re Dead to Me!, NPR, and BBC Radio 3. They have written for publications including The Guardian, Times Higer Education, Newsweek, Media Diversified, and The Conversation.
Hannah is currently open to collaborations, especially writing, mentorship, and creative projects on the following topics:
- Musical theatre and Disney
- Black Studies, music, and the performing arts
- Casting in film and theatre
- Access to research degrees and researcher development
- Zine and creative visioning workshops
